In honor of Resurrection Sunday, here is part two of our melody to Psalm 31. Near the end of this psalm, Psalmist says that God heard his cry for mercy and answered his call for help. We hope this song blesses you and instills you with the knowledge that Jesus heard our cry for mercy and answered our call for help when He rose from the grave.
In honor of Ash Wednesday, here is part one of our original melody written to Psalm 31, a psalm of lament. In this passage, the psalmist follows the traditional structure of a lament psalm: introduction, petition, complaint, confession of trust, and finally, a vow to praise.
In our rendition of this psalm, we chose to split our melody into two separate recordings. First, the introduction, petition, and complaint. Second, the confession of trust and vow to praise. This Ash Wednesday, we pray that you are able to sit in the discomfort of this melody ending in complaint, and look forward to the ultimate trust and praise that is born from lament.
Introducing: A new melody for the Apostles' Creed, the staple of beliefs for the Christian faith. We believe it is important for us to know these truths by heart, and with this well-thought out melody we hope to always remember them! We hope you will be able to remember the Apostles' Creed by this melody as well.
Instruments Include: Piano, ukulele, harp, voice, snare, and drums A few fun music tidbits: There is a time signature change from 4/4 to 6/8, a snare drum plays during the "battle" section, and "lift up your heads" has a lifting melody.
"For I am the Lord your God, who takes hold of your right hand, And says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.’"
Music, music production, video and editing by Kara Taylor (of New Song) Instruments Included: Voice, ukulele, flute, clarinet, keyboard
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid Bridge of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday...
4 One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. 8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek. 13 I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. 14 Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29 for our “God is a consuming fire.”[a]
